More From Detroit Day 2
Toyota woed the audience with its FT-1 concept which previews the styling for the long awaited replacement of the Supra in Toyota’s line up.

Nissan stole the show with this prototype hinting at how the next Maxima sedan will undoubtedly appear. This prototype reveals some very dynamic design language for the 4 door sports car. The 3.5 V6 is expected to reach 300+ hp in the next sedan, however it’ll still be managed by a CVT transmission.
Cadillac surprises the audience with a look at the soon to be released 2015 ATS coupe which is expected to be available this summer. An immediate glance shows that Cadillac is serious about beating the competition. The clean and softened lines of the art and science design language presents a less edgy but no doubt classic coupe look with steeply raked roof line and signature vertical tail lamps along with jewel LED headlamp treatments. The ATS is the first production Cadillac to bare the newly re-imagined crestless badge. This ATS will only be available with two engine options at launch, the 2.5 liter 4 has been dropped. A newly revised 2.0 liter turbo good for 295 lb-ft of torque and 0-60 times of 5.6 seconds will propell the new coupe along with the current sedan’s 3.6 liter direct injection V6 good for 321 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. Solute to Cadillac on a well executed coupe that is bound to attract new buyers and challenge the competition.

Acura unveils a preview of the new 2015 TLX, a replacement for both the TL and soon to be discontinued TSX. The TLX will be offered with a new direct injected 2.4 liter 4 cylinder and a 3.5 liter V6 mated to a 9 speed automatic transmission. This one looks to be just what Acura needs to put a little emotion back into its brand. A revamped Super Handling All Wheel Drive will also be offered for enthusiasts who demand more dynamic handling.

Mercedes Benz is debuting two new models, the highly anticipated C-class sedan and the new S-600 sedan. The C-class sedan tries very hard to mimic its big brother S-class and does a very good job

Ford redefines the half-ton pickup game yet again with the debut of the 2015 Ford F-Series pickup. The first in its class aluminum body on frame pickup, this new F150 sheds approximately 700 pounds and utilizes aluminum for 93% of its body components to achieve new government mandated CAFE fuel economy regulations. Ford will also introduce a new 2.7 Ecoboost power-train to help achieve these new targets. The new truck is estimated to achieve in the range of 25-26+ MPG. For reference the most fuel efficient power plant of the current pickup achieves approximately 23 MPG. The F150 will also be the first of its kind to use full LED headlamps and 360 degree cameras. In our opinion the new sheet metal appears to bare resemblance to the current RAM half-ton pickup, particularly at the C-pillar and top grille surround.

The 2014 NAIAS heats up Detroit with tons of truck news. GMC’s new Canyon is set to change the midsize truck segment when it launches later this fall with macho styling and the goods to back it up, including a 2.5 liter inline 4, 3.6 liter V6, and a 2.8 liter diesel power-train available after initial launch. Drive-trains will consist of 6 speed manual and automatic gear boxes. New technologies include a collision warning system, 4G LTE, and mobile wifi onboard. This is truly a professional grade pickup with style.
